Greetings to all Students!
From Siân Martin

Sian

This is the start of a new venture -- to send you news from Distant Stitch on a regular basis. I looking forward to sharing our news with you and adding your news to share with everyone else. You might like to send us a photo, some news or interesting event to publicise. Perhaps a link to your blog could show us more things of interest in more detail. Remember that I would be delighted if you would take a peep at my own blog from time to time and to leave me a message. www.stitchloop.blogspot.com

Introducing Jacqui

Many of you will have already ‘met’ Jacqui so I thought I would introduce her to you all. Jacqui is an email away for any technical support you and I might need. Jacqui is responsible for the setting up and the smooth-running of the Distant Stitch website and is a valuable partner.

New Courses—New Tutors

You might have noticed that we have recently launched two new textile courses-

Creative Sketchbooks, written and tutored by Viv White and
Machine Embroidery, written and tutored by Janet Crowther.

So do tell your friends about them and maybe come back and take a new adventure when you have finished your present course.

BREAKING NEWS-
Watch out for another new City and Guilds course in the near future, Passementerie with Lynn Horniblow

Lynn is an expert tassel, cord and braid maker and of course, a wonderful teacher.

An example of a recent piece of Siân's own textile art work to exhibit with the 62 Group at Gallery Oldham until recently.
This piece refers to the deep tunnel drilled to rescue the 33 Chilean miners last year. The small squares were cut from different papers including the newspaper reports issued during the weeks it took to make the rescue.

Yes, I do make time to stretch my own creativity!
