NEWSLETTER Autumn 2011
A third newsletter—to send you news from Distant Stitch . It has been a real treat to meet several students at the Knitting and Stitching show in London and a talk I gave to the West Country Embroiderers’ AGM meeting. Read about the exciting plans for the 2012 Embroidery Summer School at Urchfont Manor.

Jacqui has been very busy, up-grading the Distant Stitch website with your newlook Student Home Pages and automated enrolment for new students and buying your next Module. If you don’t have a password to access all this—please get in touch and send us one—at least 8 digits. You can also see what I get up to when I am not looking at your blogs by taking a peep at my own blog www.stitchloop.blogspot.com
DISTANT STITCH SUMMER SCHOOL - FOR EMBROIDERY STUDENTS

The 2012 Summer School will take place at Urchfont Manor, pictured right, 8-11th July, following the Textile Open Day on Sunday 8th. July 2012

We have two very exciting tutors, Sandra Meech and Dawn Thorne, who will offer two fascinating workshops based around the theme— 'Imaging the Landscape'.

Take a look at images of the tutors and examples of their work. Both tutors have written wonderful books related to their workshop themes. Book your place at Summer School through Urchfont Manor. See all the details on the website.

At the moment, this Summer School is only for students on the Certificate and Diploma Embroidery Courses, but do keep a look out for news of something for other Courses—we haven’t forgotten you!
Carrie and Sheila, right, are both enjoying exploring ideas in their workshop with Jan Evans last year.
Examples of work by Sandra Meech, above left and Dawn Thorne, above right.
Both individual workshops will be based around this interesting theme.
New Courses—New Tutors
Two new Courses are now being offered. Lynn Horniblow and Sylvia Grant have joined the Distant Stitch team to offer more textile courses—

Passementerie with Lynn Horniblow and
Patchwork and Quilting with Sylvia Grant.

So do tell your friends about them and come back yourself to begin a new adventure when you have completed your current course.
